Company Role: Therapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate)

A little about me: Hi! My name is Alyssa and I grew up in Northern Virginia about half an hour away from DC before attending college in Pennsylvania where I gained my bachelor’s degree in psychology! Pennsylvania was quite cold, and while I love the snow, I decided to move down south to get my Master’s degree in counseling from Winthrop University. Growing up I was a huge swimmer, and after I finished up my own swim career in college I decided I couldn’t completely step away from the pool and started coaching while attending grad school. In addition to jumping in the pool myself every once in a while, I also enjoy running, spending time outdoors, reading, arts and crafts, and spending time with friends! I also have a 5-year-old cat named August, who’s mischief always leads us towards a new adventure!

Specialities and ages I like to work with include: Anxiety, ADHD, Athlete Mental Health & Well-Being, Behavioral Issues, Depression, Grief, LGBTQ+, Marital and Premarital, Mood Disorders, Trauma, PTSD, Self-Esteem, Women’s Issues. Typically, I work with children aged 4 and up.

How I describe myself as a therapist:

  • Energetic – High-spirited and enthusiastic, bringing dynamism into sessions
  • Empowering – Actively encourages clients to take control of their lives and choices, boosting self-confidence
  • Compassionate – Emphasizes empathy and understanding

Experience: Before starting graduate school, I worked in residential treatment with adolescents, supporting clinicians in creating a warm and welcoming environment and helping clients meet their treatment goals. During my time at Winthrop, I completed my practicum and part of my internship at the free community clinic on campus, where we supported clients with financial hardships by providing services for free. Additionally, I also interned with a group therapy practice in the Charlotte area where I was able to create and lead a social skills group for elementary aged students in addition to working with my adult clients!

Insurance: BCBS, Aenta, Self-Pay

What type of light my energy represents: Sunlight: Warm, energizing, and life-giving

My Go To Karaoke Song: New Romantics by Taylor Swift

Fun Fact: If I were not a therapist, I would pursue a career as a marine biologist!
