Our Services

L & B Counseling offers therapy that meets you where you are — in the office, outdoors, or online. Our licensed therapists specialize in helping children (8+), teens, and adults navigate anxiety, relationships, trauma, ADHD, grief, and life transitions. Whether you’re seeking support for yourself, your relationship, or your family, we’re here to help.

Individual Counseling

You don’t have to go through life’s challenges alone. Individual therapy provides a private, judgment-free space to understand your emotions, change unhelpful patterns, and strengthen coping skills. Common reasons people begin individual counseling include:

  • Anxiety, depression and/or burnout
  • Life transitions
  • Grief and loss
  • Substance use concerns
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Stress management and emotional regulation

Couples & Marriage Counseling

Relationships can be fulfilling and complicated. Couples counseling helps partners communicate better, rebuild trust, and navigate differences. We help with:

  • Communication breakdowns or recurring arguments
  • Rebuilding after betrayal or disconnection
  • Managing transitions (new baby, job change, relocation)
  • Balancing intimacy and independence
  • Strengthening emotional connection

Family Counseling

Families go through many seasons. Therapy can improve understanding, resolve conflict, and strengthen bonds between parents, children, and siblings. Family counseling can assist in helping with:

  • Parent-child conflict
  • Blended family transitions
  • Sibling rivalry
  • Behavioral concerns
  • Improving household communication

Anxiety Counseling

Anxiety can take over your thoughts, body, and relationships. We help you gain control through practical tools that calm the mind and reduce physical tension. Our therapists teach coping skills and grounding techniques so you can:

  • Worry less and sleep better
  • Manage panic attacks
  • Stop overthinking and rumination
  • Build confidence in social or work settings

Depression Counseling

Depression can affect your motivation, energy, and overall outlook on life. Our therapists help you understand how depression impacts your brain and body — and give you the tools to find relief and rebuild meaning. In sessions, we:

  • Explore underlying thoughts, behaviors, and patterns that fuel low mood
  • Teach emotional regulation and coping strategies for daily challenges
  • Track progress using mood and symptom tools
  • Utilize behavioral activation tools to help you rebuild motivation and improve mood

ADHD & Executive Functioning

ADHD can make focus, organization, and follow-through feel like uphill battles. Therapy helps you build practical tools to manage distractions, emotions, and routines more effectively. We work with children, teens, and adults to:

  • Improve attention and task completion
  • Develop organization and time management skills
  • Strengthen emotional regulation and motivation

Trauma Counseling

Trauma can leave lasting effects on how you think, feel, and relate to others. Our trauma-informed therapists help you process painful memories and restore safety within yourself. Some of our therapists use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), while others incorporate body-based and experiential therapies to support healing and integration. We support survivors of:

  • Abuse or neglect
  • Accidents or sudden loss
  • PTSD or complex trauma
  • Childhood emotional wounds

    Substance Use Counseling

Substance use can start as a way to cope then slowly take control. Our experienced therapists help you understand the patterns beneath use, rebuild structure, and develop healthier ways to manage emotions and stress. We work with clients to:

    • Identify triggers and high-risk situations
    • Build coping skills for cravings and emotional regulation
    • Strengthen motivation for change
    • Reconnect with values, goals, and relationships

    Grief & Loss Counseling

Loss can change everything — from your daily routines to your sense of purpose. Grief counseling helps you process the pain, make meaning, and move forward at your own pace.
    We work with:

    • Death of a loved one
    • Divorce or relationship loss
    • Job loss or major life change
    • Anticipatory grief (chronic illness, aging parent)

We provide affirming therapy that honors your identity, supports coming-out journeys, addresses minority stress, and strengthens self-acceptance. We work with clients to:

    • Navigate sexual orientation or gender identity questions
    • Process discrimination, stigma, or internalized shame
    • Heal relationships with family, friends, or self
    • Build resilience, pride, and thriving

    Online Therapy (Telehealth)

    • Live outside the Charlotte area
    • Prefer flexibility with scheduling
    • Have transportation or childcare challenges
