How Do I Get Started?

Getting started with therapy at L&B Counseling is a straightforward process designed to make you feel comfortable and supported from the beginning. You can speak with someone to make an appointment by calling our office or filling out an online inquiry form on our website. https://landbcounseling.net/appointments-1/

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first session is an open conversation where you and your therapist get to know each other. You can share about yourself and discuss your mental health history and present concerns.

Common Questions Your Therapist May Ask:

What brought you to therapy?

What goals do you hope to achieve?

What should I know to understand your current challenges?

The goal is to see if you feel safe, accepted, and comfortable with your therapist. If you do, you can discuss scheduling further sessions.

How is therapy different at L & B Counseling?

We are proud to offer a unique style of therapy that goes beyond traditional office sessions. We have found that being out in nature or engaging in various activities can make therapy more effective. Of course, traditional in-office therapy is also available!

How long will therapy take and how will we measure my progress?

Therapy duration varies per client. Our therapists follow an eleven-session plan, aiming for a symptom reduction by the 11th visit. Progress is measured using metrics: frequency, duration, and intensity of symptoms.

How will I know if my therapist is right for me?

The right therapist makes you feel safe, comfortable, and respected. Effective communication and noticeable progress are key indicators. If needed, discuss concerns with your therapist or request a change.

How much does therapy cost?

Therapy costs can vary, so always check with your insurance company first to see what they will cover. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna (commercial policies only). For those without insurance coverage or would like to opt out of utilizing insurance, we offer self-pay options: $200 for the initial appointment and $190 for subsequent appointments. Payments can be made via checks or credit cards.

What is the cancellation policy?

Ongoing Appointments: Cancel or reschedule 48 hours in advance. A $75 fee applies for the first late cancellation. Subsequent late cancellations or no-shows are charged the full session fee.

Intake Appointments: Cancel within 24 hours of booking or 48 hours before the appointment free of charge. A $100 fee applies for cancellations within 48 hours.

For more on missed appointments and cancellations, visit our policy page.
